Terms

The terms, in plain language.

What you can expect from CartEncore, and what it expects from you. Written to be read, not to be hidden behind.

Where things stand today

CartEncore is in early access. Some of what's described here — paid plans, the full product — is still being built. These terms cover using the service as it exists now, including the waitlist, and will grow as the product does.

Using CartEncore

CartEncore helps you turn your own grocery receipts into a personal history — what you buy, what it costs, and what your household prefers. You're welcome to use it for that, for yourself and the household you choose to share it with.

You need to be old enough to enter an agreement where you live to use the service. You're responsible for keeping your account secure, and for what happens under it.

Your content is yours

The receipts you upload and the history built from them are yours. Uploading them doesn't give us ownership of them. You give us only the permission needed to run the service — to read, structure, store and show your information back to you, and to the household members you share it with.

You can export your information, and you can delete it. See the Privacy page for exactly what's kept and how.

What you agree not to do

  • Upload content that isn't yours to upload, or that you don't have the right to share.
  • Try to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the service.
  • Use CartEncore to do something illegal, or to harm others.
  • Resell or redistribute the service as if it were your own.

Reading and structuring your receipts

To do its job, CartEncore reads and structures the text of your receipts, which involves external processing services. How that works — and one honest limitation about sensitive data — is described on the Privacy page. By uploading a receipt, you accept that it's processed as described there.

Plans and payment

Paid plans aren't live yet. When they are, the price, what's included, and any trial will be shown clearly before you pay — no hidden terms, and any future price change stated up front. Until then, early access is free, and joining the waitlist costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

Availability, and the early-access reality

CartEncore is offered as-is while it's being built. We work to keep it running and correct, but during early access things may change, break, or be interrupted. We can't promise it will be perfect or always available, and — to the extent the law allows — we're not liable for losses that follow from using an early-stage service. Nothing here limits rights you have that can't be limited.

Ending things

You can stop using CartEncore and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk. If we ever wind the service down, we'll give you reasonable notice and a way to take your data with you.

Changes to these terms

These terms will change as the product grows. When a change is significant — especially anything affecting your data or a paid plan — we'll update the date above and, for material changes, let you know rather than changing quietly. Continuing to use CartEncore after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Getting in touch

If anything here is unclear, or you want to ask exactly how something works, get in touch. A straight answer is the point.

CartEncore is at an early stage; these terms are written to be honest about that and will be revised as the product matures — including a proper review before paid plans and general availability. This page describes how things work today.
